Types of Members

Membership is open to all individuals involved in the field of occupational health, safety and accident prevention regardless of race, color, creed, ideology, religion, social status, sex, or political beliefs. Memberships categories are as follows:

  1. Student Members
  2. Full Members
  3. Professional Members

Student Members

Student membership is for individuals pursuing a graduate and an undergraduate or advanced degree in a safety-related program.

The requirements

  • Student applicants must be enrolled full- or part-time in a graduate and an undergraduate at an accredited college or university.
  • Applications must include faculty advisor verification.
  • Sign the ASSHP Code of Conductย and your supporting documentation (transcripts, certificates, etc.).

Full Members

This membership is for those who are involved in all aspects of occupational health and safety industry.ย  To qualify as a full member, you must meet one of the three following criteria:

The requirements

An individual who will gain admission to become a Full Member of ASSHP shall be required at the time of application

  • Have a bachelor degree in any field or a professional qualification in occupational health and safety and other approved disciplines by the ASSHP Board.
  • Have a minimum of three years of experience
  • Be active in the field of occupational health and safety.

Sign the ASSHP Code of Conduct and your current rรฉsumรฉ/CV, along with supporting documentation (transcripts, certificates, etc.).

Professional Members

A Professional Member is for individuals with specific designations or education. To qualify as a professional member, you must meet one of the three following criteria:

The requirements

1) have a bachelor or master degree in safety and health with 5 years in preventative role experience or

2) have 5 years in preventative role experience; along with one of the following certifications:ย 

  • International NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma in safety and health or
  • Professional Safety Professional (CSP) or
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or
  • Tech.IOSH, Grad.IOSH or CMIOSH member or
  • Full Member ofย IIRSM or

3) Sign the ASSHP Code of Conduct and your current rรฉsumรฉ/CV, along with supporting documentation (transcripts, certificates, etc.).
